Join us for an intimate screening of EGG, the provocative film that delves into the complexities, contradictions, and absurdities surrounding modern motherhood. Described as "a searing examination of how class, privilege, money, and freedom of choice intersect" by Refinery29, and as a film where "questions about parenthood might make audiences uncomfortable" by the Washington Post, EGG challenges societal norms and sparks meaningful conversations. EGG premiered at the TriBeCa Film festival. It was made with female heads of every department & awarded the inaugural Women In Media & and The Arts Collaboration Award.

About Risa Mickenberg

Risa Mickenberg is a writer and director, grappling with film, TV, advertising, fiction, humor, music, theater and the big questions. She wrote the screenplay for EGG, an anti-family comedy, starring Christina Hendricks, Alysia Reiner, Anna Camp, Gbenga Akinnagbe, and David Alan Basche. “A whip-smart social satire with a piercingly sharp screenplay,” Chicago Sun-Times, “Explores motherhood in a surprisingly emotional way… shedding a special light on women who actively choose not to be mothers,” The Playlist.  She has written episodic comedy TV for HBO, written and adapted original screenplays and screenplays for hire. She’s made documentaries and worked on Michael Moore’s film CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY. She’s received fellowships from The MacDowell Colony and Yaddo. She wrote and packaged the book Taxi Driver Wisdom (Chronicle Books). She’s a member of the WGA, SAG-AFTRA, and an 8-piece cabaret band. She’s been awarded film residencies at the MacDowell Colony and at Yaddo. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America East and the Screen Actors Guild. She has been featured +/or interviewed on NPR, at The Wing, at IFC Center, in The New Yorker, USA Today, the Village Voice, the Rosie O'Donnell Show, Vice, Entertainment Weekly, Bikini, London Weekend Television, ABC Australia, Der Spiegel, the Dr. Demento show, Radio New Zealand, Sirius Alt Nation and many other quality media outlets.

She is a member of the film faculty at Vermont College of Fine Arts and is on the advisory board for the UConn Ballad Institute and Museum of Puppetry. And if this is not enough, she is also the editor of Hermette Magazine and co-songwriter/singer for the band Jesus H Christ and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
